There is so much strength with each sunrise and so much peace with each sunset. I chase my sunrises and sunsets everywhere I go. I realized that no matter what, the sun goes up each day, and when it does, it brings me hope, it gives me strength when fear creeps in silently, trying to take over an already perfect world. With each sunrise, I take a little bit of that glow and put it in my heart, only to release it at the right time. I imagine taking some of the sun’s brilliance and giving it to the one in need, being that an animal or a human. “Here, have a little bit of warmth and glow from the sun, may it help you heal”.
The time we spend between sunrise and sunset has an average of seven hundred and twenty minutes. What are we doing with all these minutes? They come and go, just like the gentle ocean waves.I learned to be more selective with my minutes, to choose what I spend my minutes on.
According to the Almighty Artificial Intelligence, a person with an average life span of 79 years, has about forty-one million minutes to live to be exact. I giggled. Take this any way you want. You can panic and think,” Oh, my God!” I only have about twenty million minutes to live (that is if you are mid-way through your life). Or you can see it from the perspective of” Oh, my God! I have so many minutes ahead of me, let’s live them out fully!”
Without knowing all this, a while ago, I decided to spend my minutes on “Moments that matter” aka sunrise and sunsets, family, and friends, helping others but helping myself first. My moments that matter may be different than yours, and that’s OK. The important thing is to find what matters to you and follow it. Go after what really fills your heart with so much love and joy that you simply cannot hold it anymore, you need to share it. Whatever that is, go get it! It is your gift, your craft, your “superpower”. Share it with others. It may be your voice, your ability to fix things, to create amazing art, to dance, to heal, to cook, to entertain. Whatever your gift it, whatever brings you joy, follow it, do more of it, share it with others and teach it to others if they want to.
Remember: “Give the best of you to others”, not “what’s left of you”. The sun comes up and encourages creation, warmth, growth, and celebration. The sun goes down. Pause. Rest. Recharge. Then start again. There is a sunrise each day. Sometimes clouds come in and hide that beautiful golden ball. There are days when we may not be able to see it. But rest assured, it is there. Every day. So is our hope. It gets renewed continuously, with each sunrise. We just need to trust. Trust ourselves and trust the world.
I share sunrises with whoever wants to be part of these moments. Sharing amplifies the love, the energy, the connection, and the radiance of the moment, it expands it somehow, beyond the limits of time and space. I believe that this part of the day has the magical power to renew hope and to help one release struggle.
“Here, little darling” said the sun, “take some of my warmth and help bring comfort to a cold and closed heart. Receive the gift of my glow to help you find your way when you’re a dark place. Remember my perseverance in rising up in the sky every day when you need to get up after you fall”.
The sunrise also give me perspective. I am far away from my problems, from my tasks and from anything that requires my attention, my input, my presence. It is me and the sun, that’s all. Thoughts come and go, and I allow them. Some emotions surface and I honour them with much love and gentleness. I give myself the gift of sunrise with all it entails. It is a new day, a new beginning, a new life today, a brand-new moment. Try it sometimes, gift yourself a sunrise moment, and why not? Share it with others!
